Need Machinery Movers in Auckland Who Understand What It Costs When a Machine Gets Damaged?

Industrial machinery moving is not a job for a general removalist. A CNC lathe can weigh 8 tonnes. A hydraulic press can be taller than the doorway it needs to pass through. A food processing line can have dozens of connection points that all need to be mapped before anything is unplugged.

Big Bull Commercial handles industrial and machinery moving across Auckland for manufacturers, engineering workshops, food production facilities, and plant operators of all sizes. Every machine we move gets its own assessment. There is no standard process applied to every job — because no two machines are the same.

We have moved over 300 pieces of industrial machinery across Auckland, ranging from single workshop lathes to complete production line relocations.

The Big Bull Difference

Why Auckland Manufacturers Work With Big Bull Commercial

There are general moving companies that will attempt a machinery job. We want to be straightforward with you: most machinery damage during relocation happens because the crew treated it like any other moving job. Big Bull Commercial has been moving Auckland industrial machinery since 2016 and here is what we do differently:

10+
Years of Excellence

Every machine gets an individual risk assessment.

Before we quote, we ask about weight, dimensions, connection types, and floor load limits at both sites. We do not send a crew without knowing exactly what they are walking into.

We document every lift and restraint plan.

Load points, lifting gear and transport restraint are agreed in writing before move day so heavy machinery is handled with the right method every time.

Our team includes rigging-qualified operators.

Rigging is the process of safely securing and lifting heavy loads. It is a specific skill set. Our machinery movers in Auckland include crew members with formal rigging training — not just experience.

We handle disconnection and reconnection.

We coordinate disconnection of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic connections at the origin site. At the new location, we position the machine precisely and reconnect it to manufacturer specifications where our scope allows.

We work outside business hours.

Most manufacturing clients cannot shut down a production line during the working week. We schedule the majority of our Auckland machinery relocations for evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Industrial Machinery

Industrial Machinery We Move in Auckland

Big Bull Commercial has moved all of the following. This is not a general list — it reflects actual machine types our crew has handled.

CNC Machines and Precision Equipment

CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, machining centres, and grinding machines. These are precision instruments. Floor-level vibration during loading, incorrect lifting points, or poor restraint during transport can throw calibration and cause damage that is expensive to fix. We use correct lifting points, padded restraints, and low-vibration transport protocols for all CNC work.

Hydraulic Presses and Stamping Equipment

From 10-tonne bench presses to 200-tonne floor-standing hydraulic presses. Hydraulic systems require depressurisation and fluid management before any move. We assess hydraulic line routing and carry appropriate containment equipment.

Injection Moulding Machines

Heavy, complex, and sensitive to floor load. Injection moulding machines often require partial disassembly for transport through standard doorways or on to loading docks. We plan the disassembly sequence before the job starts.

Conveyor Systems and Production Lines

Belt conveyors, roller conveyors, automated sorting systems, and assembly lines. These are multi-component systems. We photograph and label every section before disassembly so reassembly at the new site follows the correct sequence.

Industrial Compressors and Air Systems

Rotary screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, and associated air systems. Proper disconnection of pressure lines and condensate drains is required before any compressor is moved. We manage this as part of the job.

Food Processing and Packaging Equipment

Filling machines, labellers, shrink wrappers, slicers, and industrial mixers. Food processing equipment often has hygiene requirements for packaging during transport. We use food-grade wrapping where specified.

Printing and Fabrication Equipment

Large format printers, offset presses, guillotines, press brakes, laser cutters, and plasma tables. Many of these require level calibration after placement. We position to the specified tolerances and note any recalibration requirements in the handover.

Engineering Workshop Plant

Pillar drills, surface grinders, band saws, welding stations, and complete workshop fit-outs. Single items or full workshop relocations — we handle both.

Safe Machinery Moving

How We Move Industrial Machinery Safely

Machinery moving has four distinct requirements that general freight does not. Here is how we approach each one.

Disconnection and Preparation Every machine is different. We review the manufacturer specs, site drawings, and utility connections before we start work. Electrical isolation, hydraulic depressurisation, pneumatic line disconnection, and coolant drain-down are all handled in the correct sequence. Nothing is physically moved until this phase is complete.

Rigging and Lifting We assess the correct lifting points for each machine — manufacturer data plates, eyebolts, and structural frames. We use appropriate slings, chains, spreader bars, and lifting gear rated to the load. For machines in tight spaces, we use hydraulic skates, gantry systems, or crane trucks as required.

Secured Transport Machinery is loaded onto the appropriate vehicle — flat deck, enclosed truck, or low loader depending on dimensions and weight. Every machine is restrained to prevent movement during transit. For high-precision equipment, we use anti-vibration mounts where available.

Positioning and Recommissioning At the destination, we position each machine to the provided floor plan or site drawing. We reconnect utilities in the correct sequence. For equipment requiring post-move calibration, we note this clearly in the handover documentation so your engineers or the manufacturer service team know what to check.

Our Process

Our Machinery Relocation Process

01

Phase 1 — Site Assessment (both locations)

We visit your current site and the destination. We check machine dimensions, door widths, ceiling heights, floor load ratings, lift sizes, and access routes. This takes 45–120 minutes depending on the number of machines.

02

Phase 2 — Scope and Quote

Within 48 hours of the site visit, you receive a written scope document and fixed quote. The scope lists every machine, the lifting method, the transport vehicle, the estimated time, and the connection work included.

03

Phase 3 — Disconnection Day

On the agreed date, our crew arrives and begins the disconnection sequence. Machines are prepared for transport — wrapped, padded, and rigged. Nothing is loaded until all prep work is signed off.

04

Phase 4 — Transport and Placement

Machines are loaded, transported, and unloaded at the new site. Each machine is placed to the agreed position. Connection work is completed. A handover walkthrough confirms every item is accounted for.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions — Machinery Movers Auckland

The cost depends on the number of machines, the total weight, the complexity of disconnection, and the distance between sites. A single workshop machine (under 2 tonnes, no utility connections) within Auckland typically starts from NZD $800–$1,500. A single heavy CNC machine (5–15 tonnes, with disconnection and reconnection) ranges from $2,500–$6,000. A full production line relocation starts from $10,000 and scales with scope. All quotes are fixed-price and provided after a free site visit — not estimated over the phone.

We cover all Auckland industrial zones — South Auckland (Manukau, Penrose, East Tāmaki, Wiri, Māngere), West Auckland (Henderson, Avondale), North Shore (Albany, Rosedale, Glenfield), central Auckland, and East Auckland (Botany, Pakuranga). We also handle inter-regional machinery transport to Hamilton, Tauranga, and other North Island locations. Call us to confirm your locations.

A single workshop machine with no utility connections: 2–4 hours. A single heavy machine with disconnection, rigging, transport, and reconnection: 6–12 hours. A partial plant relocation (5–10 machines): typically 1–2 days. A full production line: 2–5 days depending on the number of sections and connection complexity. We give you a time estimate in the written scope document before any work starts. Email us and get a free quote.

CNC machines require specific lifting points — usually designated eyebolts or structural frames noted in the manufacturer documentation. We review this before the job. We use rated slings, spreader bars, or forklift attachments appropriate to the machine's weight and centre of gravity. During transport, we use anti-vibration padding and secure restraints to prevent movement. At the destination, we position to the specified tolerances. Post-move calibration is the responsibility of the machine owner or manufacturer service team — but we document the final position and levelling data in our handover notes.

Yes, within our scope. We handle isolation of electrical supplies, depressurisation of hydraulic circuits, disconnection of pneumatic lines, and drainage of coolant systems. At the destination, we reconnect utilities in the correct sequence. For machinery that requires manufacturer-certified commissioning (some CNC and precision equipment), we coordinate the timeline so your service engineer can complete final commissioning after our placement work is done.

Before You Book

What to Know Before Booking Machinery Moving Service in Auckland

Machinery moving is a specialised field. A lot of businesses find this out the hard way — after a general removalist has tried and caused damage, or after a quote that did not account for the actual complexity of the job. Here are the things that matter most when choosing a machinery moving company in Auckland.

Ask whether they assess each machine individually. A credible machinery mover will ask about weight, dimensions, utility connections, and access at both sites before they quote. If a company quotes you over the phone without asking any of these questions, they are guessing — and the job will cost more when the crew gets there.

Rigging is a skill, not just physical strength. Rigging involves selecting the correct lift points, calculating load angles, choosing appropriate gear, and executing lifts in the correct sequence. It requires training. Ask your machinery movers directly: are any of your crew rigging-qualified? A yes with specifics is good. A vague answer is not.

Disconnection and reconnection is not always included. Some machinery movers will move the physical equipment but leave electrical isolation, hydraulic depressurisation, and utility reconnection to you. This creates scheduling complexity. Before you book, confirm exactly what is included — disconnection, transport, placement, and reconnection should all be addressed in the quote.

Production line relocations need a sequencing plan. If you are moving a multi-section conveyor or assembly line, every section needs to be photographed, labelled, and disassembled in the correct order. Reassembly must follow the same sequence. If your moving company does not have a documented process for this, the rebuild will take longer and cost more than expected.

Access planning is where most jobs get delayed. Tight doorways, low ceilings, shared loading docks, and weight-restricted floors all create problems on move day if they were not assessed beforehand. Big Bull Commercial includes a full access check at both sites as part of every machinery job — it is not optional and it is not charged separately.

Big Bull Commercial provides industrial machinery moving services across Auckland for manufacturers, engineering firms, food producers, and plant operators. Every job is assessed individually, quoted at a fixed price, and executed by a trained team with the right equipment.
